UFC’s ‘Lioness’ on the prowl in big-fight action, live on SuperSport

This weekend, Amanda Nunes, the most successful women’s fighter in Ultimate Fighting Championship history, will seek to fortify her legacy at UFC 250 in Las Vegas.

The Brazilian is aiming to become the first fighter – male or female – to successfully defend UFC gold in two different weight classes while holding both belts simultaneously as she defends her featherweight title against Felicia Spencer of Canada.

The action will be broadcast live on SuperSport 1 and 11 from 4am Sunday (CAT).

This is the first time “The Lioness” will defend the featherweight title she claimed at UFC 232, but the seventh consecutive championship bout for the dominant two-weight world champion, who has dominated the bantamweight ranks for nearly four years and successfully defended that belt on five occasions.

Nunes added the featherweight title to her collection in December 2018 with a 51-second knockout of Cris Cyborg and, when added to her previous wins over Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate and Valentina Shevchenko, her legacy is rock-solid.

Spencer, in turn, has a chance to shock the world by defeating arguably the greatest female fighter of all-time in just her fourth trip into the famed UFC octagon. A former Invicta FC champ who has impressed in UFC wins over Megan Anderson and Zarah Fairn, the Orlando-based fighter earned tremendous respect for going the distance with Cris Cyborg and scored a one-sided, bounce-back win over Zarah Fairn earlier this year to cement her standing as the top contender in the featherweight class.

Also on the card, former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt returns to battle Raphael Assuncao, Aljamain Sterling meets Cory Sandhagen, and Sean O’Malley fights Eddie Wineland.
