Three big fight shows coming to SuperSport

Big-time international boxing features on SuperSport this weekend with a triple world title bill that features some of the sport’s finest talent.

This event kicks off a season of major fights to feature on the World of Champions with an October 24 tournament and a December 12 event all promising maximum firepower.

This weekend’s fights, taking place at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, will be broadcast live on SuperSport (Variety 1 and Maximo) from 1am on Sunday.

In the headliner, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo will put his belt on the line against dangerous Sergiy Derevyanchenko, the highly regarded Ukrainian who gave Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs all the trouble they could handle in major bouts.

Twin brother Jermell, meanwhile, takes on Jeison Rosario for the WBC, WBA and IBF junior-middleweight belts.

With 53 wins and just a pair of losses between the two, this is a high-quality match-up that fans have longed for in the absence of compelling match-ups during the pandemic.

The other championship fight sees all-action Brandon Figueroa, the WBA junior-featherweight champion, put his status on the line against Damien Vazquez.

On October 24, the man they call “The Tank”, big-hitting Gervonta Davis, will measure his awesome power – 22 knockouts in 23 wins – against the speed and sass of Leo Santa Cruz in their championship fight. This will also be broadcast on SuperSport.

And then, on December 12, unbeaten Nordine Oubaali steps in against legendary Nonito Donaire, the former champion who was involved in one of 2019’s best fights, giving superstar Naoya Inoue the challenge of his life.

This action will also feature on the World of Champions.
